Hiring Two Farmlink Coordinators!

— Written By

Western North Carolina mountain farm.

WNC Farmlink and NC Farmlink are two grant funded projects that were created to help match farmers looking for land with landowners. Both programs have been successful in helping beginning farmers start a farm on land that they leased or purchased. It has helped landowners transition their farms to the next generation. For us as consumers, it has helped ensure that we can continue to buy locally grown food. And for all of us, it has helped maintain our farms as part of the beauty of North Carolina.

Much of the success of these programs has been due to partnerships with many organizations and other state agencies that helped them to get started and have advised and mentored them through the years.

These two programs have now matured to the stage where NC Extension has decided to make them permanent programs. I am happy to announce that we are now hiring two NC Farmlink Extension Associate positions. One will serve the western part of the state and be based in the general Asheville area. The other will serve the eastern part of the state and be based in the general Raleigh area. These are 3/4 time positions with full benefits. It will be up to the two individuals hired for these positions to work together to build a solid, permanent, statewide program. What an exciting opportunity!

If you are interested in applying for either of these positions or know of someone who might be, here are the links to the job sites to read the details and apply!
