About the Conference

The Cullowhee Native Plant Conference convenes each summer
on the campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Since 1984 when the Tennessee Valley Authority provided an outreach grant to fund a “Plant Utilization” meeting, the Cullowhee Conference has endeavored to serve as the meeting ground for botanists, designers, professors, students, growers, consumers and native plant enthusiasts. Through interactive field trips, workshops, lectures and social networking opportunities, the conference provides a forum for many different professions to discuss and debate the role and impact of native plants and conservation in our communities.
